Damn Not again

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 28, 2008, 9:42 AM
Fuck, I had a hella long journal written when it all vanished! Stupid internets/computer. I've noticed whenever my laptop works against me it becomes a male in my mind, when it works for me (or is particularly hurt) it becomes a female...How strange. Clearly I subconciously hate all males XD.
Well, I'll try and sum what I had written.
I just finished exams. All went pretty well, leastways, that's how I'm feeling till I get the results later in these holidays (which extend to end of july XD).
Last few days have been spent preparing my cosplay for the Con that's this weekend. I'm going as Zuko and my girlfriends going as Katara (can ya tell what we ship?). Put more effort into this than I ever have, but well worth it. Had a pretty good two days so far (one ta go still!). Watched a Spin off Death Note movie, watched some cosplayers (but didn't join them), watched an auction, a stargate movie, a Dr. Who episode (we brought that ourselves), and saw a bunch of random stalls (haven't bought anything yet though).
wow...that took me like fourty lines last time...
Busy holiday ahead socially, lots of things planned, looking to be a lot of fun. I'll try and squeeze in some actual work at some point (theoretically a lot, but...may not happen, I know I don't want to).
I'm going try and do a lot of art this holiday, to make up for my lack of it during the uni term (still trying to figure out what I was doing). I've got my novel I've been working on that I need to pick up and continue. Also a ton of art ideas that have been bouncing around. Also (whoa repitition of sentence starts, sacrilige) I've got an idea for a comic that's been forming in my head. It's sort of in the style (artwise) of Foxnede, or at least, that's how I picture it. Course, I don't think I can even come close to her skill...But I'll do my best. With any luck I'll have the first few of those out by the end of the holiday...may even be able to make some progress on my short stormtrooper/minion based skit comics.
Well...that's how my life is going. Hopefully I'll get some stuff up on monday (should be free then).

Oh noes tagged again. Twice in fact. But it's a fun one so it's all cool.
Leave a comment requesting I answer these about you.

a) Tell you why I friended you
b) Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, ect.
c) Tell you something I like about you
d) Tell you a memory I have of you
e) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you
f) Tell you my favorite deviation of yours

You're meant to pass it on, but do what you like. Except sam. You have to pass it on whether you leave a comment or not.

One more day of hell...then I'm free as a bird to stage a revolution, rally the masses and lead them to conquer heaven, and from there, if we're bored, Earth. Soon...Soon...
I'm thinking of making a meme...just out of boredom. And to see how far it would reach, as in, if I made one, would it ever go as far as some of the big artists I watch...we'll never know..unless I get round to setting it up and you all support me with it *glares at watchers accusingly*.

enough of my evil plotting, I have to study!
Pictures coming soon...ish.

A BANDWAGON, Just for you.

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 17, 2008, 8:28 AM
Allow me to step aboard the bandwagon for a moment. A friend pointed out this competition to me: [link] I thought it sounded fun. So I glanced over the official rules...This is where the bandwagon comes in.
You hereby agree that in consideration of your being allowed the chance to enter the Contest, you hereby grant Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide license and right to utilize the entry materials that you submit to Sponsor in connection with the Contest (collectively, "Entry Materials"). The Entry Materials will not be returned to any entrant. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you acknowledge that Sponsor shall have the right to use, modify, reproduce, publish, perform, display, distribute, make derivative works of and otherwise commercially and noncommercially exploit the Entry Materials in perpetuity and throughout the universe, in any manner or medium now existing or hereafter developed, without separate compensation to you or any other person or entity. You agree to take, at Sponsor's expense, any further action (including, without limitation, execution of affidavits and other documents) reasonably requested by Sponsor to effect, perfect or confirm Sponsor's rights as set forth above in this paragraph 7.
I've seen a lot of journals recently complaining about this sort of issue: artists rights and the like. I hadn't actually come across hard evidence....Man, what a bitch of a contract. As far as I can tell, you enter a piece (you don't have to win, just enter), and Blizzard own your soul. Or at least, they can do whatever the hell they like with your art, for as long as they please, with no repayment of any kind. WHAT THE FREAKIN" HELL. Seriously, that's a bastard of a contract. I just feel sorry for all the people who skim over the fine print and sell away artwork that could honestly earn them a lot of money (I'm guessing Blizzards looking for cover art and the like. You could earn a ton off've the cover art for a game like WOW. Instead they're oferring the chance for a sword, an awesome sord I would love to have, but one worth less then 300 dollar).
Yay for evil corporation hating. Remind me to always read the shit I sign.
Anyways enough bitching, I'm gonna go back to studying so's I can become a big shot lawyer and help the big evil corporations screw more people XD.

Bang Bang

So I just watched 'Shoot 'em up'...Fucking hilarious (hmm...I seem to be swearing more recently...). If you've ever seen a wester (a proper good ole western), and enjoyed it, then you'll probably like this (granted you don't mind considerably more gore, some gratuitous sex/nudity). Basically, the same wooden acting, with even more stupid one-liners (thank you clive), and a...odd plot (better than I expected). But the fun part is, if you think of your standard western, they tend to bumble around with a usually terrible plot, and even worse acting till they get to the finale (which usually will involve a heck of a lot of death and rather far fetched shooting). Well, this film had a better plot, marginally better acting (arguably), and the finale action seen lasted the ENTIRE Movie. Reading back this almost sounds like a negative critique, my apologies, I mean nothing of the sort. This movie was hilarious, and as an action fangirl (as you can see i've given in), this film was absolutely brilliant. The farfetched shooting and action seens were wonderful, there was more death than in a Rambo film (though less than in say... Kill Bill), few explosions (a downside), though it was made up for by near constant gunfire.
Also, a note on the Villian. He was played by an actor I know, but who always seems to act as a less than main character (never quite there). He's reasonably good. But back on topic, the character: Was amusing. He had this interesting analytical thing going on (which funnily enough reminded me remarkably of a crime short story I heard once a while back, similar tracking method), as well as delightfully sadistic character, and a reasonable sense of humour.
Over all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, It's nice to see a movie you can enjoy both because it had good parts, and because you were laughing hysterically at the ridiculous stupidness of the awesome fight scenes.
...I'll stop now.
good night, it's 2 am....that's probably not a good thing.
