Artist's Comments

'M veery proud of this. It was so much fun to do. I drew it using pages 14 and 15 of Hellsing Chapter 61. There aught to be a background, but I decided against doing, partially cause i was worried about ruining this image, and also because i kinda moved on from the picture, and if i waited in the hopes i'd come back and do a background, it'd never get done.
This was my first time using different pencil types properly, before this, though i did have different types, i never really thought about the purpose. So yeah, really pleased with this. Took ages too, there's far too much detail in hair.
I darkned it a little in Photoshop, it was a little too light for the atmosphere.
Well, Whatcha think? In my opinion it's the best or second best image i've done of another image (other one would be [link] ). Anyway, your opinion?

wow, this is really cool.
havn't read the manga yet but just from the picture, the shaddow of the people, particularly the one the right doesn't look quite right, they don't really seem to lie on the ground. Generally the work on the hai and the clothes is awsome, the folds in the cape odf the guy on the right are really well done, the cape of the one on the left however isn't quite as good, it looks too stiff and cardboardy, it needs shading or more curvy contures or something to make it look like fabric that's moving, but not too much 'cause it's anime style, not realistic.
But yeah, this is really good, better than the other one in my opinion, but it's hard to compare because of the different styles

texture?
It's the paper i use in all my work.
thanks.

Thank you.
You still haven't read it? but i lent it ages ago, i'm so hurt =p. It's well worth the read, very exciting, very good, get to it as soon as you can (though knowing how much you have, that'll be a while i'm sure). The shadow on the right was only half done off the picture, I extended it to fit the page and it went a bit wrong, I shouldn't have bothered, but meh, whats done is done. Yeah the cape on the left was the hardest to do, to many waves and curves with too few reference points (like juts in the outline), made it very hard to draw them in with any semblance of accuracy.
I don't think it's better than the other, I realy like that picture (and not just because i love the subject). Yeah, totally differnt styles, reality to manga, way off.

It looks good! In future it might be better to plan out the whole scene to include the background though (like sketching it in lightly along with the characters) because right now, while the characters are looking fantastic, their positioning and the dramatic nature that they have been manipulated in (particularly the coat and the wind that should be blowing it) looks a bit strange without some other elements to give reasoning for it. Still, very well drawn!

There's no evidence of wind in the background, i think it's from the sudden appearence of the kneeling man at her feet that did it (he kinda flew there at extreme speeds after slaughtering half of london). But I may still include the background, We'll see, there's still time.
